Ⅰ. What are the knee joint meniscal surgery instruments?

31

What are the knee meniscus surgical instruments: arthroscopes, scalpels and surgical shears, hemostats, electric grinding drills, and suturing instruments.

An arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical tool, which is used to observe the structures inside the knee joint. Scalpels and surgical shears are used to make small incisions in the knee joint to go through the joint cavity. Hemostats are used to stop bleeding. Electric drills are used to remove damaged meniscus tissue. Suture instruments are used to repair or reconstruct the meniscus.

The meniscus can be divided into three areas according to blood circulation, namely the white zone, the red and white zone, and the red zone.

The specific division is as follows:

Red zone: located in the lateral 1/3 of the meniscus, near the joint capsule and synovial margin, with abundant blood supply and great potential for recovery after injury.

Red and white area: Located in the middle 1/3 of the meniscus, it contains a small number of blood vessels, and the blood supply is between the red and white areas.

White area: located in the medial 1/3 of the meniscus, close to the inside of the joint cavity, relatively far from the joint capsule and synovial margin, poor blood supply, mainly supplied by synovial fluid, and difficult to recover after injury.

Ⅱ. Which regions are most commonly divided into in a region-specific meniscus?

Meniscus repair surgery is an effective means of treating meniscus injuries in the knee joint. This surgery usually includes meniscus sutures, menisoplasty, and so on. Region-specific meniscus repair surgery refers to different treatment methods depending on the specific location and type of meniscus injury.

There are many types of meniscus injuries, and the parts of the injury are different, and the types of injuries are also different. For meniscus injuries, injuries near the joint margin, and near the joint edge, because of the part of the joint edge, the blood circulation is better after the meniscus injury or part of the free edge joint injury, and the meniscus injury can also be considered for repair.

Menisceoplasty

When the meniscus injury is severe and cannot be repaired with sutures, plasty may be used. The surgery removes part or all of the damaged meniscus to relieve pressure inside the knee joint and relieve pain and swelling. This method is suitable for partial or complete tears of the meniscus. Before repairing, the torn meniscus should be evaluated as a whole, and only if the conditions are met can it be repaired. However, if the torn part of the meniscus is relatively large or even completely broken, it is generally necessary to trim and shape the torn part of the meniscus first, and then suture it.

Meniscus replacement

Meniscus replacement may be considered for severely injured meniscus when the patient is younger and has a higher activity level. This procedure removes damaged meniscus tissue and then replaces the artificial meniscus with a normal meniscus site, restoring normal meniscus function. However, it should be noted that meniscus replacement is currently used relatively rarely and is technically difficult.
